Jingle Bells and Snow
Seasonal and Holiday stories and tales are fun to write and can be an inspiration to both the reader as well as the writer.
Whether narrating a factual account of some traditional celebrations, or relating a fictional epic of flying reindeer, glistening snow and elves that create gifts for young and old alike, you will find that a bit of that "magic" will flow from the keyboard or pen right into your heart. Soon visions of sugarplums and other delights will bring back your own memories or will motivate you to create some.
Holidays are magical times in themselves because they take us from daily life into enjoying family, friends, food, and decorations without feeling guilty or silly. It's okay to thrill at falling snow as it gently covers a pine tree, or to feel a tear down your cheek as a child is mesmerized by glitter and bubble lights.
The Holiday Season is a chance to express your ideal venture into the empire of make-believe, fantasy, and hope. A short story can take on epic proportions when it reaches someone who needs a "lift" during perhaps a sad walk down memory lane, or a wish that had never taken form.
It can bring young and old together with giggles, hugs, and oohs and aahs at the concept of wonderful happenings on starry, cold nights or it can open nostalgic gateways into holiday meals and family get-togethers. Sometimes a poem or tale could dust off a bit of the child in each of us, and take us for a sleigh ride right into the heart of what we viewed life as at age 5, 10, and so forth. We have evolved and so have our views of life and our aspirations. No one can truthfully say that they are not touched by feelings of mellow, warm, and fuzzy. Each and every person needs comfort whether in the form of pictures, words, or ideas. The recesses of our memories can be ignited or quieted, depending on the circumstances, but Holiday writing is a challenge that will give the writer as much pleasure and fun as the reader.
So, don't miss out on taking part in one of the pleasureable times of life, write and ENJOY!
