Hope Builders

On September 11, 2001, the greatest tragedy to happen on American soil took place. Since that day, millions of Americans and others throughout the world have gone looking for answers in one form or another. Many of these people are now turning to God and Christianity for help, but are still unsure of how to listen to the answers given them.

As Christian writers, we have the opportunity to help those people. The best way to go about this is to use our own experiences. Each of us has our own story of how God came into our lives and brought us out of the darkness. Each of these stories is unique in its own right, yet all have a common thread.

More and more Christian markets are looking for true stories of how God’s work has influenced our lives. By sharing our stories with the rest of the world, we are also doing His work. This is known as "Witnessing." Each Christian is called to witness to the rest of the world, and for those in the Christian writing community, we have the ability to reach the millions of people looking for a sign.

Most people fear or don’t trust the things they cannot see. The Christian writer has the ability to show that the love of God and the Christian community itself, hold something that most others do not. That is hope. In a world that seems hopeless, it is the job of the Christian writer to show that hope is eternal and may be the only thing we have to hold onto.

For many Christian writers, we have seen the power of God through our own eyes and know first hand of what He is capable of doing. When we share our stories, we pass that power onto the rest of the world and allow God to work in their lives. We can’t save the entire world, but we can lead them to the One who can. The Christian writer can offer hope to the world, but only God can give them the foundation to build that hope on.
